I'm still alive!

Maybe I under estimated the amount of time and effort that goes into having 2 kiddos. I really failed on my 2011 blogging commitment to myself. Yea sure, excuses excuses!!

I'm not promising much for this year either! I'll try to do my best, I'm hoping I can do a lot better because as important as my personal life is, I really love my business and I'm hoping to someday be a full time photographer.

This year I'm officially changing my business name to Emily McIntosh Photography. I'm pretty excited about the change, and mostly my new logo. A good friend from high school designed this incredible logo for me, she's amazing! If you need any designs, invitations, business cards, logos, check her out, Katrina Peterson.

Here's to 2012, hoping it's a crazy busy year with lots of beautiful people to photograph!

Kim & Shawn Dunton 6.18.2011

Kim & Shawn Dunton 6.18.2011

I met Kim last summer at the dress shop where I work. She came in like most brides knowing exactly what she wanted. The difference between her and most brides is she walked out with EXACTLY what she came in for. She had ripped a pic of a Mori Lee gown out of a Bride's Magazine, and we had just received the dress for stock. It was crazy different, like nothing we had ever seen. It was a ball gown, the whole skirt was covered in feathery-like flowers and tulle. Every detail about her wedding day was just like this dress: original and perfectly planned. The wedding was black and white with pops of pink and damask print.

The couple was married at the Rock Church in Bangor, this was a delightful place. Nicholas Bemis was the pastor, and he is amazing! The ceremony had every single person in that church in tears. The couple was coming together as a family, joining themselves and three children. The kids were all involved in the ceremony with their own readings and poems, and also joined in with the couples unity-sand ceremony. I hate when I get crying while photographing because you almost never know what is going to be in focus!

The reception was held at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. We got some great shots outside on the course just before the rain started up again. They had a great party, the dance floor was full all night, and the groom and his Dad has some serious dance moves. I'm not sure how everyone else was keeping up.

Congrats again to you both and your wonderful families. I felt very welcomed at your wedding, and had so much fun with your friends and families! Best of luck to you both!

Where have you been?

It's ridiculous how busy life can get! I photographed 15 weddings last summer and more than 30 photo sessions, and I posted nothing!! RIDICULOUS!! I'd like to say it's because I was being lazy, but I really really had absolutely no time last summer. It was the busiest summer I've had so far, I work a full time job, and I was pregnant with my second child. He was born March 21, 2011, Spencer Bruce. I'll be sure to include a pic. He has a very proud big sister, Norah who has been amazing. I am making a promise. Right here, right now, I promise to post something from every session. EVERY ONE!!! No excuses this summer since I'm certainly not pregnant! Stay tuned for a post from my first wedding of the season and many many more! I had a late start this year because of Mr. Spencer and maternity leave, but worth every minute home with my family!

August 21, 2010

This past March, on a very very chilly day, Laurel & Brian braved the cold with me for their engagement photos. Laurel chose to do the session at the University of Maine in Orono where she graduated.

This past weekend, they had the most amazing wedding on Hancock Point. Not only is this place gorgeous and magical, but so is their story. Both families have summer homes on the point, and the two met there every summer for many years. At a very young age, Laurel said she would marry Brian, and as one very determined woman, she did, on August 21, 2010.

I was delighted to be part of their day. I've never met a more generous and loving couple, and they both come from such wonderful families that made me feel like part of the family.

I took so many photos over their wedding day, they are still uploading, but I wanted to share a few engagement photos to lead into their beautiful day!

Congrats Laurel and Brian!
